Nawal El Saadawi: A Conversation

Nawal El Saadawi: A Conversation

Original Date: May 5, 2021

On the 21st of March, 89-year-old Nawal El Saadawi passed on. El Saadawi was the Arab world’s most outspoken advocate for women’s rights. Mona Eltahawy, for example, described her as the “godmother” of Egypt’s new feminist movement. Yet, for some, she was a controversial icon. In this dialogue, we invite a critical memorialization of El Saadawi, including the lessons and insights we have gained  about the current conditions and about ourselves through her work. On the 21st of March, 89-year-old Nawal El Saadawi passed on.
