Mkhize’s talk, “Improving adolescent sexual and reproductive health outcomes through the integration of community health workers into youth-friendly services in Sub-Saharan Africa,” looks at how the current health system structure in SSA and the barriers it has to adolescents seeking SRH services. One of the biggest interventions we had was the involvement of community health workers during the dire times of TB, HIV, and AIDS health promotion, as well as their involvement in helping families navigate childhood illnesses.

Mantombi Mkhize is a young medical doctor from Johannesburg, South Africa. She completed her Medical degree at Wits University in 2017. Then went on to complete her internship in Durban before returning to Johannesburg to complete her community service and continue to work as a medical officer in internal medicine and emergency medicine at a regional hospital in JHB west. After that she went into corporate medicine and joined a pharmaceutical company as a Medical Science Liaison in 2022. In 2024 she embarked on her Masters in Public health journey and enrolled at Brunel University, London. She is currently a Medical Advisor leading in multiple therapeutic areas. In her spare time Dr Mkhize is an avid reader and series/movie watcher.
